MASS GRADUATION & RESCUE OLYMPICS SET ON DEC. 19

NAGA City - The Mass Graduation of the more than 200 Kabalikat Bicol members who completed the Disaster Management and Rescue Training is set on December 19, 2009 (Saturday) with Congressman dato Arroyo as guest of honor & speaker. This was announced yesterday by KB Bicol regional governor Jennis Nidea (30-01)who also said that the graduation will coincide with the 1st Cong. Dato Arroyo First Aid and Rescue Skills Olympics which will be participated in by eleven (11) Disaster and Rescue Teams (DARTs), namely: KB Bicol Del Gallego (KB217) Chapter; Ragay (KB300) chapter; Lupi (KB) chapter; Sipocot Saver/Anib High School; Libmanan (KB241) chapter; Pamplona-Pasacao (KB120) chapter with 2 teams; San Fernando (KB277) chapter; Libon, Oas & Tabaco City (508, 503 & 222)of Albay; Magallanes & Matnog (338 & 369) of Sorsogon; and Atimonan and Calauag (147 & 400)of Quezon. With a theme: "Forging Awareness in Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Management and Strengthening Volunteerism through Survival Skills”, Nidea said that the event is aim to To showcase the skills of every Disaster and Rescue Team (DART)and to create awareness of the importance of emergency response and management. Nidea added that the event is time-bound and point system consists of the following: a) Bandaging Relay (10%), 10 mins; b)Transfer Relay(10%), 10 mins; c)Bandaging and Transfer Relay (15%), 20 mins; d)Immobilization & Extrication (25%), 30 mins; e)Situational Analysis or Simulation (30%), 30 mins and; f)Q & A Portion (10%), 20 mins. The PNRC Trainors, Erwin Ocampina and Johnjohn Iglesia will schedule a practice session for every team: San Fernando - Saturday (Dec. 12)morning; Pamplona - Saturday (Dec. 12) afternoon; Lupi - Sunday (Dec 13) morning and; Libmanan - Sunday (Dec. 13) afternoon.
