Know the KABALIKAT BICOL
WHAT IS KABALIKAT BICOL?
The Kabalikat Bicol is a non-stock, non-profit, and non-government civic communication groups whose members are committed to serve the public and community especially during calamities and emergencies. The organization is dedicated to enhance its members' skills capabilities in disaster management and rescue, the use of communication (VHF, UHF & HF radios) facilities, and to establish cooperation and coordination with various government agencies and civic and non-government organizations.
WHAT ARE KB BICOL PRINCIPLES?
a) Reverence to God;
b) Patriotism;
c) Advocacy to public good;
d) Adherence to democracy and rule of law;
e) Foster “bayanihan” spirit.
WHO CAN BE A KABALIKAT?
You can be a Kabalikat if you are:
1. At least 18 years old and above. Below 18 years old can be accepted only upon submission of parent's consent;
2. Resident within the area of responsibility (AOR) of a KB Chapter you are applying;
3. Of good moral character;
4. Mentally and physically fit;
5. Have keen interest in radio communication;
6. Able to own and/or possess at least a portable VHF radio; and,
7. Willing to render voluntary services to community
KABALIKAT SYMBOLS AND WHAT THEY MEAN:
EMBLEM
The Kabalikat Bicol Emblem, also known as Logo, has six (6) rays of the sun which represent the 6 provinces of Bicol, namely: Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon and the island provinces of Catanduanes and Masbate. It has also 116 stars which represent the 109 municipalities and 7 cities in the region. Mayon Volcano and the Siling Labuyo (pepper) are icons of Bicol and the bicolanos. The portable VHF Radio or a mobile phone and its aerial antenna or cellsite. The lightining symbolizes the signal. The smoke of the volcano forms the image of the Philippine National Flag.
COLORS:
The KB Bicol colors are: blue, yellow, red, green and white.
*blue - or represents a faithful, genuine and sterling person;
*yellow - expresses commitment and productivity;
*red - shows the passion and dedication the person has to have;
*green - manifests the person's sincerity in his intentions,
*white - represents purity and truth.
These characteristics make up the persona of the members of the KB Bicol.
WHAT ARE THE SERVICES OF KABALIKAT BICOL?
1. Members of the Kabalikat Bicol must be on a 24-hour On-Call Duty and must be always ready to respond and assist in any emergency or distress call, such as:
a) Vehicular accident;
b) Fire;
c) Typhoons and other calamities.
2. Members should also be dedicated to organizing and strengthening the following:
a) KB Bicol Disaster and Rescue Teams (DART)
Helping in any form of disaster and rescuing victims of the same is one of the major concerns of KB Bicol. Thus, allowing its members be responsive not only to any form of emergency situations but also to the welfare of the public. And so to be more effective in meeting this end, related seminars and trainings are provided. Involving in these activities, therefore, further promotes the organization and gives meaning to its mission and vision.
b) KB Bicol Youth
This group is an arm of KB Bicol consists of in-school youths adhering too, to the group's mission and vision. This enables all young people to reach their potentials as productive, caring and responsible citizens as they live by the group's principles and involve themselves in the group's activities.
The young men and women included in this group are also given the opportunities to enjoy the same benefits the KB Bicol regular members are experiencing.
REWARDS FOR BEING A KABALIKAT
A volunteer-operative (members) of KB Bicol can count on unfathomable rewards working with other "bayanihan-spirited" individuals and the young people.
These include:
1. Respect from the community;
2. Personal growth;
3. The opportunity to meet people and attend conferences and trainings.
4. The satisfaction of helping others specially those who are in need;
5. The opportunity to help improve community's way of life by teaching the youth and inculcate to them the virtues of "bayanihat-spirit".
How to Join
1. You must pass the interview and other member/screening processes.
2. Fill-up an Application Form and submit the same together with other requirement set-forth by the respective chapter, e.g. Barangay Clearance, PNP/Court or NBI Clearance.
3. Application Fee (non-refundable)
4. 1 pc. each of 1 x 1 & 2 x 2 , recent colored picture.
Like any other organization, KB Bicol has several traditions that are significant to its members and its purposes: Orientation, Operations, Nettings, Confirmations of Applicants includes the giving of Temporary Call Signs, Elevation to Regular membership includes candle lighting ceremony and the giving of Permanent Call signs.
